Utility Service Line Warranty Program

The City of Stuart is considering a partnership with the National League of Cities (NLC) in offering a voluntary service line warranty program.

What is the NLC Service Line Warranty Program?
The Service Line Warranty Program is an affordable home protection solution for single-family residents to help deal with the financial burden of unanticipated utility line repair and replacement costs that are not in the City of Stuart’s service area and not the City’s responsibility to repair. Repairs are made by trusted local contractors, which helps to keep money in the local economy.

What is covered under the NLC Warranty Program?
The Program covers the portion of the outside water and sewer lines that are the responsibility of the homeowner. While the homeowner is responsible for their in home water and sewer lines, they are also responsible for the portion of the line that is buried outside of the home to the point of the utility connection. The warranty provides repairs on broken or leaking water or sewer lines typically not covered by homeowners insurance. There are no restrictions on the number of repairs performed and no deductibles or service fees.

How much this service cost?
Each warranty is sold separately and the price range is generally between $4 and $5 a month per product.

Motor Oil Disposal

How can I properly dispose of used motor oil?

Used motor oil should never be poured on the ground, in a storm drain, or down the drain. Proper disposal may be accomplished with two easy options.

  • You may drop off used motor oil and many other household hazardous wastes at the Martin County Hazardous Waste Mobile. This service is FREE and available for all Martin County residents. For the Hazardous Household Waste Mobil Program Schedule, click here Hazardous Household Waste Mobil Program.

  • Contact your local auto supply store to see if they accept used motor oil.

Some jobs around the home may require the use of products containing hazardous components such as certain paints, cleaners, stains and varnishes, car batteries, motor oil, and pesticides. The unused contents of such consumer products are known as "household hazardous waste."
