The Development Department is responsible for preparation, presentation and implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan, Development Regulations, Building and Municipal Codes and Community Development Programs.
Administration of these responsibilities includes building permits and inspections, mapping, zoning and land use changes, variances, right of way abandonment's, amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, land development regulations, municipal code, community redevelopment, neighborhood planning, damage assessment and grant applications.
Staff provides support to the City Commission, Local Planning Agency, Community Redevelopment Agency, Board of Adjustment, Community Redevelopment Board and Code Enforcement Magistrate. In addition to coordinating roadway improvement and beautification projects, the office acts as liaison to the TCRPC, FDOT, DCA, SFWMD, DEP and Martin County MPO. We want to make our City a greater place through prompt, accurate and consistent customer service and to protect and enhance its built and natural environments.
